Giuseppe Rossi: Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino rules out former Manchester United striker joining Spurs in January transfer window
Tottenham will NOT signGiuseppe Rossi this month, the Premier League club’s manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed.Rossi, the former Italy international, was linked with a shock move to north London earlier this week, with reports in Italy saying Spurs had approached the 31-year-old over a pay-as-you-play deal. The striker is currently a free agent and is training with former side Manchester United as he searches for a new club.Rossi left Genoa at the end of last season and remains without a club1

The alleged offer for Rossi was made in the wake of Harry Kane being ruled out through injury until early March, leaving Pochettino with just a single senior attacker, Fernando Llorente, to choose from.Kane is joined on the treatment table by Lucas Moura, while the pair’s fellow attacker Heung-Min Son is currently representing his country at the Asian Cup.Rumours suggest Spurs will delve into the transfer market to replace Kane, possibly on a short-term basis, but Rossi is NOT one of the club’s targets.“There are many names that appear in every transfer window,” Pochettino said in a press conference on Friday. “He (Rossi) is another name to add to the list. “It is a rumour and we are not considering him. It is a rumour and it is not a possibility.”talkSPORT revealed earlier this week that a ‘top-level meeting’ was planned by Tottenham chiefs to discuss their options apropos Kane’s injury.Loan signings are one of the solutions to Pochettino’s selection crisis being considered, while 16-year-old academy striker Troy Parrott could also be promoted into the first-team to provide cover until Kane returns.
